PT Aquarius Musikindo is an Indonesian record company which dates back to the 1960s. In its early days, it engaged mainly in cassette recordings and reproductions of dubious legality. This was possible, because Indonesian copyright laws didn't adhere to international standards.
This changed in 1988 when the company was re-established as a legitimate record company. They became official licensees of WEA International Inc., EMI, JVC and Pony Canyon, allowing them to officially manufacture and distribute records within Indonesia for these industry majors. While they still continue to be an official licensee for other labels, its license with EMI ended in 1997.
